Why you should repair your phone instead of buying new

There are several benefits to repairing your phone rather than immediately replacing it:

Cost savings: Repairing your phone can be significantly cheaper than purchasing a new one. In many cases, a repair can be done for a fraction of the cost of buying a new phone, which can save you money in the long run. Support local businesses: If you choose to repair your phone through a local repair shop, you are supporting a small business in your community. This can help contribute to the local economy and provide jobs for people in your area. Overall, repairing your phone can be a cost-effective and environmentally-friendly option, while also providing convenience and retaining important data.

Why Apple is NOT a repair company

Lets first state what many may forget. Apple is a innovative sales company, not a repair company. The primary business model for Apple inc. is to design, manufacture and create new solutions for its end users with a consistent flow to its product line.

The Apple Store is just that, a store to showcase it's products and new designs.  "In 2015, there were 463 Apple stores worldwide. Since the opening of the first Apple store in the United States in 2001, the number of Apple stores around the world has boomed, surpassing 200 stores after 2007 and still rising."

A bad tristar might still result in the phone drawing current, but won't allow the battery to charge. To be certain, a known working battery might be dry-fit onto the phone and if the phone still won't charge the new battery, then a tristar repair is indicated.

Apple specifies that their batteries work best at a range of 0 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius. While we almost never reach the upper range in Canada, temperatures below freezing are typical for the winer months.

Because the battery meter is calibrated assuming warmer temperatures, the reduced capacity in the cold can cause the reading to be unreliable. This is one of the reasons your phone may die while still showing 30%.
